Lorien has been expanding its contractor database business to help deal with increased demand for IT services. The recruitment arm has also launched Skillpoint, a programme to help contractors improve their IT consultancy skills.
“On the contract side there is huge demand for systems testers, so we dramatically changed our strategy on training,” said Richard Fiddis, group managing director at Lorien.
“Because IT contractors are freelance they don’t have as much chance to update their skills base, so we introduced Skillpoint.”
Since Lorien announced the course 90 contractors have already undertaken courses and another 200 have registered.
