Lollipop ladies - could manage the economy better than politicians!
Now here’s one of my all time favourite quotes from an accountant. It comes from the bluff and outspoken Peter Hargreaves (click here), joint founder of Hargreaves Lansdown, the astonishingly successful investment business.
He tells Accountancy Age: ‘The last ten years will go down as one of the worst of all time economically. Blair and Brown between them – to be honest I wouldn’t employ either one of them as a lollipop lady, it’s insulting to lollipop ladies. Bloody useless.’
Not sure I can entirely agree with every sentiment expressed in these bons mots from the Lancashire- born investment guru.
But what it did do is remind me of long Sunday lunches trying to avoid arguing with my dad. A Yorkshireman whose equally brutal preferred form of expression has left me both wanting to cry and laugh out loud over the years.
