Deloitte is set to welcome almost 1,500 new starters to its UK graduate, BrightStart apprenticeship, and industrial placement programmes this week, across 17 locations from Aberdeen to Southampton.
A further 98 new entrants are scheduled to join in December. The intake mirrors last year’s figures, when more than 1,400 early careers hires joined the firm.
The new cohort, 43% of whom will be based outside London, will begin with a virtual induction covering Deloitte’s professional services ethos, sustainability goals, and its GenAI platform, PairD. This will be followed by in-person, technical training tailored to specific business areas, including audit and assurance, tax and legal, and advisory services spanning strategy, risk, transactions, and technology.
Deloitte’s graduate programme has consistently been recognised for its appeal to early careers talent, ranking fourth in the Times Top 100 Graduate Employers list for the fifth consecutive year.
The firm emphasises that these programmes combine technical training with the opportunity to work towards professional qualifications while gaining hands-on client experience.
Jackie Henry, managing partner for people and purpose at Deloitte, reflected on the significance of the intake:
“When I joined Deloitte as a graduate 36 years ago, little did I know the journey that lay ahead. I’m excited to welcome this group of talented young people. They bring strong communication, adaptability, resilience, and analytical skills, and I look forward to seeing how they develop and contribute across our business.”
Clodagh McLaughlin, a BrightStart apprentice in technology and transformation consulting in Belfast, described her first year at Deloitte as a “steep learning curve, but incredibly rewarding.” She said the firm’s supportive environment allowed her to quickly acclimatise and build relationships with colleagues, and she has already been mentoring some of the new joiners.
Deloitte’s apprenticeship programme allows participants to earn while they learn, gaining professional and degree-level qualifications alongside practical experience.
Industrial placement students, typically undergraduates, receive a 12-month paid placement, training alongside first-year graduate hires, with many returning to Deloitte as graduates.
The firm’s early careers programmes are designed to prepare participants for long-term roles within Deloitte, offering structured development, exposure to client work, and professional qualifications, while supporting the firm’s broader business objectives and innovation agenda.
