In March, we unpack the wave of activity in the industry’s mid-market as well as the latest moves across regulators and trade bodies. The past month has seen the industry’s people moves slow down compared to the months prior.
Mid-tier
(February 1) Azets has announced the promotion of Gemma Wright to associate director of its Peterborough office. Wright has been a part of the 50-person, 6-partner office in Peterborough since 2008 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2014.
(February 2) Buzzacott has revealed the hiring of David Stears as director and head of valuations in its corporate finance team. Stears is a valuation expert with over 15 years of experience. He has previously worked with Smith & Williamson, BDO, and Menzies.
(February 12) Grant Thornton has appointed Akshay Bhalla as a partner in its London office. Akshay will focus on expanding Grant Thornton’s services to businesses trading between the UK and India. Balla is a former office managing partner with KPMG India and will work alongside the head of south Asia business group – Anuj Chande.
(February 15) Crowe has appointed Alex Conway, Mustafa Iqbal and Jayne Rowe as partners to their professional practices, risk and assurance, and non-profit teams respectively.
(February 15) Magma chartered accountants has announced three senior appointments with Meadhbh Heard, Jaiman Pabari, and Sophie Warren. Heard will take up the role of senior audit manager in Rugby, while Pabari and Warren join the team in Leicester as assistant managers.
(February 21) Mazars has revealed the hiring of Deniz Nadiri as a new FTSE 350 development partner. Nadiri joins Mazars after two decades at EY, specialising in delivering services to FTSE 100 and prominent listed companies, as well as leading firm-wide strategic and transformative programmes.
(February 23) MHA has appointed Annie Walton, formerly general manager of Fancy Plants as its new ESG director. Walton boasts 25 years of experience in the food industry, having served at board level in both fresh food and grocery businesses and brand companies.
(February 23) Larking Gowen has announced that Richard Proctor will retire at the end of March after more than 35 years in the industry. Proctor joined Larking Gowen eight years ago, and previously worked in tax at KPMG and Grant Thornton.
(February 27) PKF Francis Clark has hired Subhash Sreedharan, a technology and customer experience specialist, to the newly created position of chief information officer. He joins from McCarthy Stone, where he was director of technology for almost five years.
(February 28) UHY Hacker Young has reappointed Subarna Banerjee as managing partner of their London and Nottingham practice after a highly successful three-year tenure. Subarna will oversee the pursuit of several ambitious targets during his term which include increasing the firm’s revenue by over 50% by 2026.
(February 28) Grant Thornton has advanced James Titheridge to partner within its tax team. This move is seven years in the making, with Titheridge having originally joined the firm as a director.
Regulators and trade bodies
(February 9) The Institute of Financial Accountants has announced the appointment of Matt Barton as technical manager. Barton has had a storied career in the public sector as a management accountant and finance business partner (FBP), having worked in a number of Government departments, including as senior FBP for Workforce in the Ministry of Defence, senior FBP for Digital in the Department for Education, and as financial planning manager in HMRC.
