The inaugural MTPI ranking seeks to reward and recognise mid-tier firms in the UK that champion true accountancy excellence, with organisations judged on four key categories: Strategic Planning, Profitability/Growth, Professional Excellence, People & Community.
Topping the scores in this first wave was Saffery Champness. The firm has excelled within the Strategic Planning category, demonstrating investment in its employer brand in addition to a series of learning and development initiatives.
Scotlands’ EQ Accountants shone in the Professional Excellence category. This was largely expressed through increased visibility, with measures such as increased availability for out-of-hours calls or on-premises meetings.
In the Profitability/Growth category, Lubbock Fine particularly stood out to our judging panel. Despite the turbulent economic picture and changing market conditions, it has taken on 346 new clients during the past year and is projected to see a £1.4m uptick in annual revenue.
Finally, Berkshire-based Wilson Partners boasted a number of achievements in the People & Community category. Employees’ wellbeing, aspirations and their impact on the local community are core to the firm’s overall vision, it said.
The new ranking is designed to place the spotlight on the UK accountancy industry’s mid-tier. Firms are judged and ranked on a series of qualitative criteria, rather than quantitative metrics alone such as fee income.
Our entrants have been carefully judged by a panel of experts from across the UK accountancy industry, including partners, directors and chief executives from a selection of leading accounting firms and professional bodies. They are as follows:
The MPTI will join Accountancy Age’s portfolio of industry-leading rankings, sitting alongside the annual 35 under 35 and 50+50.
