Accounting and audit tech update: Microsoft, Xero and more

(June 8) Accounting tech firm Sage has announced new global partnerships with Lloyds Bank, cashflow solutions provider Satago, and human resources management software firm ADP. According to Aziz Benmalek, president of Sage in North America, the new partnerships will allow Sage’s resellers to deliver enterprise-grade solutions to SMB customers.

(June 8) Nomisma Solution, an end-to-end SaaS suite built for accounting firms and SMEs, has secured more than 100% of a £500,000 crowdfunding campaign. More than 600 practices and 10,000 clients have already signed up to the platform, and the firm says the fresh capital will be used to bolster these numbers.

(June 15) HMRC has announced that from July 2022, the criteria for joining the Making Tax Digital for ITSA pilot scheme will be expanded. Taxpayers with the following income types will be granted eligibility: Self-employment; UK property; Gift aid; Pay As You Earn income (including employment income and occupational pensions); UK interest; UK dividends.

(June 16) Big Four firm EY has announced that it plans to invest more than £800m in a new assurance technology platform over a four-year period. The plan forms part of an overall £2bn investment programme announced by the firm last year, and aims to support the consolidation of existing EY assurance technologies into a single platform.

(June 20) The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Innovate Finance, the industry body that represents the UK FinTech sector, have announced a new collaboration agreement. According to ACCA, the partnership will provide a platform for UK FinTech leaders to share information about their products and services with UK and international stakeholders.
