Accounting community set to reunite at Accountex London

After three years, Accountex London is returning and set to be bigger than ever. Not only is the education programme CPD accredited with eight hours, but there will be over 180 informative sessions about the tools, technology and ideas shaping the future of accounting.

As both the 2020 and 2021 shows were postponed due to the pandemic, the Accountex team are excited to reunite the accounting community.

“With it being such a long time since the last Accountex London, we’re more excited than ever to bring you our best show yet,” said Caroline Hobden, Accountex portfolio director.

“It’s set to be the focal point in the industry’s calendar, reuniting like-minded people after a tough couple of years.”

“Since its inception in 2012, Accountex has become a who’s who of the accounting profession and its surrounding industries,” said Martin Bissett, director, Wisdom In Practice Group.

“It is said that two days of Accountex is the equivalent of six months of networking any other way and my experience bears that out – I’m looking forward to being involved once again.”

Over the two days, attendees will have the opportunity to meet the teams from suppliers including Sage, TaxCalc, IRIS, Intuit QuickBooks, Dext, Thomson Reuters, Silverfin and Xero, who will be exhibiting alongside newer companies driving the accounting and finance world forward.

Accountex London provides a great opportunity to see what new software and services are on the market and get bespoke demonstrations of how they can be utilised.

This year, the new product launches range from business valuation training to private crypto tax software and a chat app for accountants and their clients.

Notable industry names will be hosting CPD accredited keynotes, seminars, panels and workshops on a range of topics including Making Tax Digital (MTD) and cyber-security.

With the landscape of accounting always evolving, there will be a big emphasis on fintech this year and what this means for the future of the industry.

Another key focus will be on bookkeepers and small businesses, and the benefits of supporting them and their growth.

Attendees can also look forward to hearing directly from the HMRC on updates and changes to the making tax digital deadline and how you can prepare for the big move online.

HMRC’s Richard Fowler will be sharing what’s next for MTD and what you need to know for MTD for Income Tax on both May 11 and 12. HMRC will also be sharing its updates on the new penalty process.

The topic of ‘soft skills’ will also feature heavily,  with a new theatre focussing on people, talent and culture. The programme will feature talks on everything from mental health to work patterns to diversity, addressing important issues that affect every one of us.

“This event did more in one day to open my eyes to the software and services available in the industry than ever before,” said Nathan Lewis, tax senior, D&T Chartered Accountants.

Accountex 2019 cemented the exhibition as Europe’s foremost event for accountancy and finance professionals, with 97% of exhibitors rating the show as ‘good’ or ‘excellent’.

“Accountex is the most influential exhibition we attend,” said Emma Pickles, Emma Pickles Accountants. “Because of our visit to the 2019 show, we have completely changed the way we work.”
