Audit technology will be a valuable tool but can’t singlehandedly prevent further scandals
In part one of the Accountancy Age video series, The Future of Audit, reporter Tom Lemmon spoke to James Brighton, partner at Deloitte, alongside Franki Hackett, head of ethics and audit at Engine B.
The pair agreed that while improvements in audit technology can enable auditors to improve audit quality, “technology itself isn’t a silver bullet”.
Aside from discussing whether audit technology can prevent further scandals in the sector, Brighton and Hackett examine the role of regulators in encouraging greater use of technology, how the role of the auditor might change in years to come, and what an audit will look like in the future.
