35 Under 35 2019: 10 – 6 revealed!

The Accountancy Age 35 Under 35 rankings seek to highlight the rising stars of the accountancy profession, featuring those who have made great professional contributions to the field and their individual firms.

Each day this week, we will be releasing the next batch of 35 Under 35 rankings, culminating in the top five being announced on 20 December, 2019.

Today, we present the fourth wave of noteworthy professionals who made the Accountancy Age 35 Under 35 rankings.

10. Alex Hesketh, Partner, Cowgills

As Cowgills’ youngest partner and one of its leading advisors, Hesketh is responsible for running a large client portfolio which represents 10% of the practice’s income. Comprised of multiple project-based engagements, as well as recurring audit and non-audit work, Hesketh’s experience is spread across the firm.

Throughout his time at the firm, he has developed a specialism in audit engagements and international offerings, including VAT, corporation tax, foreign exchange implications and more. Additionally, Hesketh’s direct client relationship portfolio has grown over 25% year-on-year, and he has also established a professional network of inbound work referrers.

9. Charles Lawrence, Group Financial Controller, Park Holidays UK

Lawrence’s career has seen him through KPMG’s school leaver programme and a position at Hastings Direct before he settled in at Park Holidays UK in 2015 as a group projects accountant. In that role, he was directly involved with three successful M&A project business acquisitions worth over £24m, carrying out robust financial due diligence.

Since his promotion in 2017, Lawrence has grown his team by 20% and continues to take an active role in his team’s growth and training. Additionally, Lawrence has reworked the weekly reporting pack and put a detailed monthly review process in place, and continues to instil a business-partnering mindset within the finance team.

8. Andrew Sullivan, Director, Complete HQ

Despite setbacks in his health, Sullivan has come out on top of 2019 with a number of remarkable experiences. In May, he left his previous firm and created his own business, Complete Accountancy – later renamed to Complete HQ – which has grown rapidly to a monthly GRF running at over £6k per month. Working with clients from Cornwall to Scotland, Sullivan’s firm has quickly become one to watch as it looks to bring in new talent in 2020.

As a regular contributor to AAT’s publications, Sullivan demonstrates his commitment to the industry with his continued support of the membership body. In addition to his professional work, he has also raised over £1k in donations for the national charity Crohn’s & Colitis UK.

7. Leila Kamdem-Fotso, Partner, Mazars

Having worked in the UK, France and across Europe, Kamdem-Fotso brings diverse range of experience and knowledge in both the financial industry and climate change regulations to Mazars. Throughout 2019, Kamdem-Fotso’s focus has been on greening the financial industry and supporting its transition to become more sustainable, providing banks with solutions like the UNEPFI Principles for Responsible Banking.

Additionally, Kamdem-Fotso is currently leading a collaborative project on the regulation of climate financial risks across G20 countries, while still working as the People Lead Partner for the Mazars UK consulting service line. As a passionate self-starter across all her roles, Kamdem demonstrates a commitment to both Mazars and the wider financial industry.

6. Mark Froggatt, Director – Accounting, Expedia

Having joined Expedia as an ACA-qualified accounting manager, Froggatt quickly progressed to a senior manager role before settling in as a director. Before his promotion, Froggatt was responsible for the accounting of 17 legal entities across Expedia’s EMEA locations, and is currently accountable for the accounting of Western Europe for Expedia’s corporate travel company, Egencia.

While watching over a team of 45 individuals spread across three countries, Froggatt is also responsible for the global financial statement audit portfolio of Egencia. He also helped standardise the VAT compliance process for more than 40 entities within Expedia and Egencia and centralised them within one team.
