To help lead its national debt advisory practice, mid-tier firm RSM has appointed Greg Moreton as partner in its London office.

Moreton joins the firm from EY, where he helped grow its leveraged finance team, and brings over 20 years of debt advisory experience to his new role.

Rob Donaldson, head of corporate finance at RSM, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Greg to the team. His unrivalled experience will be a huge asset to our clients and will help take our debt advisory business to the next level.”

DSG internally promotes tax director

Liverpool-based DSG Chartered Accountants has promoted Mark Kearsley to a tax director role, following his 11 years of service at the firm.

Previously having worked as a chartered accountant and a chartered tax advisor, Kearsley’s new position will focus on business development and advisory within Liverpool.

Leading a 13-strong tax team, Kearsley will work closely with DSG’s head of tax, Mike Stott, and various partners at the firm.

“We are thrilled to announce Mark’s promotion, which highlights his commitment to DSG since 2008 and his achievements,” Stott said.

Kearsley was also recently appointed as chairman for the Merseyside branch of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) and Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT).

“I’m incredibly proud to have been promoted as tax director at DSG, having started 11 years ago as a trainee, and I hope that through working with the partners I can really support the firm’s growth in the future,” Kearsley said. “I look forward to leading the talented tax team and with this, supporting businesses across the region.”

Crowe announces new corporate finance partner

National audit, tax, advisory and risk firm Crowe has welcomed Dave Riley into its corporate finance team as the firm’s newest partner.

Based in its Manchester office, Riley will work to bolster Crowe’s corporate business offerings as he leads the team on mergers and acquisitions, debt advisory and due diligence, among others.

Speaking on his appointment, Riley said: “I am delighted to join the partner team at Crowe. The opportunity to grow the Crowe advisory business is substantial and the North West marketplace is a hot bed of corporate finance activity.”

Nigel Bostock, chief executive of Crowe UK, said: “I am excited to announce Dave’s appointment to our partnership. His diverse background, knowledge and skill set will make a valuable contribution to the firm’s advisory offering as we continue to grow as a national firm with global reach and local expertise.”

Advisory-focused FRP welcomes three directors

Three new directors have been appointed at the advisory firm FRP, expanding the company’s specialty offerings across the UK.

In Bristol, Alex Sargeant will take on a director role in the corporate finance team, bringing 10 years of experience and a specialty in sell and buy side corporate finance advisory. Prior to joining the firm in 2017, Sargeant worked at Deloitte, focusing on financial due diligence.

Specialising in corporate restructuring and personal insolvency, Rachel Heighington will support FRP’s Manchester restructuring advisory team with her experience in a range of sectors.

Additionally, in Birmingham, Ben Jones will help direct that office’s restructuring advisory team.

Supporting these changes, Shelie Gallagher and Patrick Donnan have also been promoted to manager roles at FRP’s Manchester and London offices, respectively, to assist in the restructuring advisory practice.

Jeremy French, managing partner at FRP, said: “We always look to attract and develop the best talent, and it’s extremely rewarding to see the personal progress of those involved in this latest round of promotions.

“Their success is testament to the dedication and high quality of service they provide to clients and I look forward to seeing them continue to deepen those relationships further in the future.”

Debt advisory director appointed at Grant Thornton

Grant Thornton has appointed Craig Cheetham as its debt advisory director for the North and Midlands, working to strengthen its corporate finance team.

Cheetham has a 15-year strong background in structured corporate lending, focusing on the mid-market, and joins the firm from his previous role as a senior director at Yorkshire Bank.

Peter Terry, partner and North West head of corporate finance at Grant Thornton, said: “Craig is an established figure in the market and brings a wealth of specialist lending experience to our team, having led the full spectrum of mid-market debt advisory transactions.

“He has strong relationships with both the region’s private equity houses, and the leaders of a raft of exciting owner-managed businesses in the North West. We’re incredibly pleased to welcome him to our growing team.”
