What do you think about the standard of audit in the UK?
With financial scandals like Carillion, BHS, and Patisserie Valerie still haunting our doorsteps, it’s no wonder people are wondering what could have gone so badly wrong.
The Financial Reporting Council is under threat following John Kingman’s report, and the Competition and Markets Authority have come out with a number of reasons the audit sector is flawed and what they suggest to put this right.
But it’s also the start of a new year and everything seems hopeful. As such Accountancy Age are delving deep into the UK’s audit sector, looking at what it used to be like, whether much has changed, and why the latest massive scandals have occurred.
We will also consider what the future of audit looks like? How exactly do we prevent another Carillion tragedy? What changes need to be made and what tools do we need to utilise?
