Deloitte promotes 54 partners in UK

Deloitte North West Europe has announced the promotion of 136 partners, 54 of whom are in the UK.

A total of 14 partners were promoted in consulting; 13 in tax; 10 in both audit and financial advisory; and seven in risk advisory. The London office has 41 of the new partners, with five in Birmingham and Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Guernsey, Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham, Reading and St Albans all with one newly promoted partner.

David Sproul, senior partner and chief executive of Deloitte North West Europe, said: “Today we celebrate the promotion of 136 of our colleagues to NWE partner. Being a larger, stronger firm allows us to provide more opportunities for our people and to grow the talent we have across our six geographies. At our first anniversary as one Deloitte North West Europe firm we have been able to make a greater impact by combining all of our capabilities and strengths, and by harnessing our innovative thinking and cultural diversity.”

Of the partners promoted in the UK, 11 out of the 54 are women. The firm has reported that 19% of its partners are women, compared to 14% in 2014.

Among the newly promoted individuals, 9% of partners are BAME (percentage relating to those who disclosed their ethnicity). This figure compares to 5% of all Deloitte partners.

Emma Codd, managing partner for talent at Deloitte UK and Deloitte North West Europe, said: We continue to prioritise the recruitment, development and retention of senior women, but we recognise that we still have some way to go. In 2012, we set a clear target that by 2020, 25% of our partners will be female, and we have since agreed a longer term target of 40% female partners by 2030. Since setting our target, and introducing our gender balance action plan, female representation at partner level has increased from 14% in 2014 to 19% today.

“In line with the Parker Review, we have also committed that by 2021, 10% of our partners will be BAME – rising from around 5% today. In order to achieve our aims on both gender and ethnicity we are continuing to focus on ensuring that we continue to provide a truly modernised workplace and inclusive culture, underpinned at all times by respect. We are clear that this continued focus on culture – along with specific targeted actions aimed at various points in our career lifecycle – will enable us to achieve our diversity aims.”

Deloitte North West Europe came into effect on 1 June 2017 and combines Deloitte firms in Belgium, Ireland, the Netherlands, the Nordics, Switzerland, and the UK. The combined firm promoted 57 new partners in 2017.
