The Accountancy Age 35 Under 35 ranking 2018 spotlights rising talent in the accountancy industry, featuring those who have made outstanding contributions to their field in their career to date.

Every day, we’ll be releasing five individuals featured on our 2018 list ahead of publishing the full ranking on 12 June.

Today we reveal the individuals at 31-35 on the 35 Under 35 2018.

35. Charles Lawrence, Group Financial Controller, Park Holidays

Lawrence joined KPMG in 2008, spending five years at the Big Four firm leading audits across middle markets, ahead of joining Hastings Direct in 2013.

Lawrence joined Park Holidays in July 2015 as Group Projects Accountant and was promoted to Group Financial Controller in July 2017. He has worked on a number of projects during his time at the company, including overseeing the conversion from UKGAAP to FRS101 for the group in 2016 and planning a compliance approach for IFRS 15. He also played a key role in the sale of the business from Caledonia Investment plc to ICG plc in 2016.

34. Jo Nockels, Senior Training & Communications Manager, TaxAssist Accountants

Nockels began her career in practice at Larking Gowen and in 2010 joined accountancy franchise TaxAssist Accountants. She took on responsibility for the TaxAssist Accountants Training Academy in 2013 and delegate numbers at the Academy have doubled since 2012.

Nockels received a promotion to senior manager in 2014 and in 2016 was selected for the firm’s management development programme.

33. Tim Emmony, Managing Director, MNE Accounting

Emmony established MNE Accounting five years ago with the ambition of building a dynamic and ambitious firm. He works with clients at the finance director level, advising on strategy and management, and oversees financial accounting at the firm, managing personal tax and end of year accounts.

Client retention at MNE Accounting currently stands at over 90%.

32. Eleanor Taylor, Manager, Forensic and Investigation Services, Mazars LLP

Taylor joined the Forensic and Investigation Services team in 2014 and gained two rapid promotions to assistant manager in 2015 and to manager in 2016. She has been involved in complex expert witness assignments in the High Court and in International Arbitration and made significant contributions to the Mazars Transparency Report in 2016, as well as having been involved in training, graduate recruitment and risk management processes.

31. Matthew Dean, Senior Manager, Grant Thornton

An experienced public sector auditor, at Grant Thornton Dean delivers high quality services to clients. He contributes to the firm’s CCG Key Issues Bulletin and sits on the CIPFA TISonline Capital Board, shaping documents considered by the whole sector.

He is an Office Financial Reporting Champion, a Quality Lead and the Regional Technical Lead, supporting teams on technical queries relating to audit work. He has also been the National Lead for Private Finance Initiative Models at Grant Thornton since June 2017.

His colleagues have highlighted his commitment to the financial reporting agenda in the public sector, and his commitment to training and coaching at the firm.
