He was appointed to the role by his peers and takes over from Rob Elliot, who has served three terms in the role.
Burton joined Saffery Champness in 2004, retraining as an accountant after qualifying as a surveyor. He most recently led the firm’s private wealth and estates group and has been a member of the management board since 2013.
Burton commented: “It is a privilege to have been elected by my partners to the role of managing partner. I am excited by the opportunity and very much look forward to helping Saffery Champness continue to enhance its position in our chosen markets and build on our reputation.”
Rob Elliott commented: “I have worked closely with Matthew for many years and am in no doubt that he will lead Saffery Champness with skill and distinction. I look forward to continuing to work with him as the firm embarks on a new chapter of growth and progress.”
