Former Financial Reporting Council (FRC) chief executive Paul Boyle has been appointed as the president of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (CIIA).
Since 2010, Paul Boyle has been the chief audit officer at insurance company Aviva, and was the first chief executive of the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) between 2004 and 2009.
Boyle said: “I am looking forward to leading the institute into its next period of growth and to help increase awareness of the institute’s potential to be more influential. Internal audit can add significant value to the wide variety of organisations which invest in it.”
Ian Peters, chief executive, CIIA added: “We are delighted that Paul is joining the council as president, he has had a long and successful career within internal audit, and financial management, and has a wealth of experience which will be integral in helping us raise the profile of internal audit.”
Paul Boyle received his OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in 2010, and is also a member of ICAS, serving as a member of its council from 1990 to 1996.
Prior to the FRC, Boyle worked as the chief operating officer at the UK’s Financial Services Authority as well as holding senior financial management roles in the WH Smith Group and Cadbury Schweppes.
