CIMA president becomes first chair of 'new' association
Andrew Miskin, president of CIMA, has been appointed as the first chair of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants
CIMA PRESIDENT Andrew Miskin has been appointed as the first chair of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants.
The new global accounting association will be formed early next year by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and CIMA. Miskin will continue to serve in his presidential role concurrently.
Barry Melancon, president and CEO of the AICPA, said: “The launch of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants is an extraordinary milestone. Andrew Miskin is the right person to take the helm as the first chair, he has experience and a commitment to driving quality and value worldwide.”
The initial vice chair of the association, that will advance public and management accounting globally, will be served by Tim Christen. Miskin will work closely with Christen, the outgoing chairman of the AICPA’s board of directors.
Miskin said: “These are exciting days for our profession. Technological changes are transforming business models and creating new ways of working, meaning new challenges and vast opportunities. The Association will keep our members on the forefront. I am honored to be appointed.”
The AICPA and CIMA will continue to serve members and will integrate management, strategy and operations through the association to strengthen advocacy, employability and expand market insights and resources.
The new association will be governed by a board of directors composed of CPAs and CGMAs responsible for overseeing strategies that advance the organisation’s objectives. The board will be led by either the president of CIMA or chairman of the AICPA on a rotating basis.
