OTS director Whiting included again in Birthday Honours List

OTS tax director John Whiting has again been included in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, along with servants of HMRC and the Financial Conduct Authority.

Whiting, who has held the part-time at the OTS since it was established, was last week awarded with a CBE for services to tax simplification. In 2008 he was awarded an OBE for public service.

Also awarded a CBE was Tracey Elizabeth McDermott, acting chief executive of the FCA, for her work in Financial Services, Consumers and Markets. McDermott is set to leave the FCA on 1 July this year.

John Kingman, second permanent secretary at HM Treasury was made a Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath (KCB) for public service particularly to the Economy.

A number of HMRC employees were also awarded honours. Joanna Wakeman, Stuart Condie, and Christopher Murray were awarded OBE’s, while Elizabeth Hajnrych, Margaret Burns, Colin McMurtrie and Rebecca riley were handed MBEs. Graham Brammer, a HMRC debt management employee, was made a CBE.
