James Abbott takes up UK200Group presidency for the next two years
THE UK200Group of independent chartered accountancy firms has appointed James Abbott as its new president.
Abbott will oversee the association’s new four strand strategy which controls how its membership groups are run. The strategy comprises a development programme for young entrepreneurs, a training programme that will support aspiring leaders, industry groups that will bring together the specialisms of UK200Group members and a SME-focused initiative.
Abbott has been a chartered certified accountant since 1998, and in 2012 formed Bedfordshire accountancy firm Abbot Moore. Abbot has been working with UK200Group since 2010, first serving the firm as a membership services committee member.
Previously vice-president, Abbott will serve in the role for the next two years, replacing outgoing president Nick Willis.
Commenting on his appointment, Abbott said: “I feel very honoured to be appointed President of the UK200Group at such an exciting time for our organisation.
“Last year saw the announcement of a number of new and exciting initiatives, including our entrepreneur’s academy, which I hope to help the group launch during my tenure.
“The future at the UK200Group looks very exciting and I am looking forward to helping our network of accountants and lawyers grow and move forward with our new strategy.”
