Having served as chief marketing and business development officer at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Chambers has also worked as a partner in the financial institutions practice of McKinsey.

Chambers currently serves as a non-executive director of Dollar Financial UK ltd, and has acted in the same role for Hibu plc and the Home and Savings Bank.

Of the appointment, Smith & Williamson’s chairman Andrew Sykes said: “We are delighted that Elizabeth has agreed to join the board of Smith & Williamson.”

He added: “She brings extensive experience of marketing, brand management and business development in both banking and professional services and we look forward to her contribution.”

Chambers will join other non-executive directors Robert Bogart, Blake Goldring, Peter Hazell and Henry Strutt.
