Paul Brown takes partner post at HURST after six years with EY in Australia
HURST has appointed a new partner, Paul Brown, who will return from his role with EY in Australia to fulfil the role.
Brown has spent more than six years in Perth, Western Australia, working with EY as an executive director. With a specialisation in advising owner-managed UK businesses on all aspects of tax, focusing on those which are expanding overseas, he will join Hurst in Manchester.
Having trained as a tax inspector at HMRC before joining KPMG, he later served as UK tax manager for BASF and as a senior manager at PwC in both the UK and Australia.
On his new position, Brown said: “The firm already has a strong tax team which punches above its weight, but there is great scope to grow the business, in particular the international tax advisory arena, and I look forward to playing a part in driving this expansion.”
He continued: “I’m impressed at how vibrant the economy is in Manchester and the north-west as a whole”, adding that the firm are “ideally positioned to create value for businesses looking to grow, both in the UK and overseas.”
Head of HURST’s tax team and partner at the firm, Rachel Murphy, said: “We’re delighted to attract someone with Paul’s experience to our team.”
“We are increasingly acting for clients with complex tax arrangements, including international requirements, and Paul’s knowhow is a welcome addition to our capabilities.”
