Celia Adams takes over as president of the Birmingham and West Midlands Society of Chartered Accountants

CELIA ADAMS HAS BEEN APPOINTED as president of the Birmingham and West Midlands Society of Chartered Accountants at its 132nd AGM.

She takes on the role after six years of involvement with the society, most recently as chair of the Worcestershire Group of Chartered Accountants. As president, she will support the society’s members across Birmingham, Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Herefordshire.

Adams, a chartered accountant and business adviser, will also represent the interests of chartered accountants in the wider business community as well as overseeing the delivery of services to members.

She takes over from Helen Drew, a partner at chartered accountants Crowe Clark Whitehill who led the society for the last 12 months. In her new role, Adams will be supported by deputy president Jasbir Khela, director at PwC and vice president Adam Stephens, director of transformation strategy at Homeserve.

Adams, who is also a non-executive director of the Trading Company of St Richard’s Hospice and sat as a financial expert on the University of Birmingham’s Audit Committee from 2009 to 2012, said it is a “great honour and privilege” to have been appointed as president.

She added: “I have always have been proud to be part of the society whose members have made such a contribution to the region’s business community. I succeed Helen Drew and if my contribution during my year is only a fraction of that made by Helen and her predecessors then I will deem it a success.”
