Grant Thornton and BDO merge in Isle of Man

GRANT THORNTON AND BDO have completed a merger in the Isle of Man to create the island’s largest accounting and audit services provider.

The agreement creates a new company with 30 staff members and sees the existing clients retained.

Former BDO directors Michael Crowe and Martin Kneale will sit alongside Grant Thornton directors Dennis McGurgan and Richard Ratcliffe at the top of the venture, which will continue to run under the Grant Thornton name.

BDO employees will move over to Grant Thornton’s offices in the island’s capital, Douglas, keeping their original posts.

Last year, BDO completed a merger in the UK with PKF.

Crowe said: “We are delighted to be joining Grant Thornton Limited to enable continuity of service to our clients and to provide job security for our employees. Grant Thornton has a fantastic reputation in the Isle of Man as well as worldwide and is one of the world’s leading organisations of independent assurance, tax and advisory firms.”
