Mazars’ recent contract win for public sector audits in the North East and Yorkshire sees the firm open up its first office in the area
MAZARS‘ AUDIT COMMISSION contract win will see the firm open its first office in the north east of England.
On 1 November, the Top 20 firm will open an office in Durham to manage a contract win for public sector work, following the closure of the Audit Commission.
Earlier this year, the Audit Commission awarded the firm a five-year contract worth £3.7m to deal with public sector audits in the North East and Yorkshire area. The Durham office of Mazars will serve about 34 public sector clients such as councils, NHS primary care trusts, police and rescue authorities.
The new office will be a base for a team of 49 audit and support staff who joined the firm from the Audit Commission.
Gareth Davies, partner and head of public sector at Mazars, said: “We will be building on the new team’s huge public sector experience to offer an exciting new choice to clients across the region.”
