Firm offers environmental services to SMEs to calculate impact on their businesses
HW FISHER & COMPANY has entered the sustainability market with a range of services to help SMEs calculate environmental risks.
In a four-step approach, the firm audits energy use, provides efficiency information, training for staff and management systems.
HW Fisher & Company’s director of sustainability Jae Mather, said: “There is now mounting pressure from government bodies and consumers for organisations to be transparent, particularly when it comes to reporting on their environmental performance.
“It should be noted that while sustainability reporting is not yet compulsory for SMEs, this is likely to change soon. As the government rises to the challenge of meeting ambitious carbon reduction targets, it will have to extend energy legislation beyond the top percentage of business. We urge all SMEs to be proactive, rather than reactive, and get ahead of the game before regulations begin to cascade down.”
This year the Carbon Reduction Commitment was introduced, which forced all companies that spend more than £500,000 annually on their energy bill, to report and pay for energy-related carbon emissions.
HW Fisher & Company has reduced annual energy bills by 20-40% in the companies it has worked with so far.
