Grant Thornton drops Sunseeker audit

GRANT THORNTON has resigned as auditor for luxury yacht maker Sunseeker International.

According to papers filed at Companies House, the mid-tier firm will no longer audit the company’s accounts.

“There are no circumstances connected with our ceasing to hold office which we consider should be brought to the attention of the members or creditors of the company,” a statement from Grant Thornton said.

Sunseeker International is currently two months late in filing its accounts, which could see its directors, including founder Robert Brathwaite, incur substantial fines.

Last month the company had a major setback when one of its £9m yachts caught fire in its main harbour in Poole.

It also made a £9.1m loss for the year ending July 2009.
