Online Budget portal set up for the public to send suggestions on how to boost the economy
CHANCELLOR GEORGE OSBORNE is calling on the British public for ideas on how to kick-start economic growth with the launch of an online Budget ideas portal.
The portal will allow members of the public, interest groups and representative bodies to send their suggestions of what they would like to see in next month’s Budget directly to Treasury officials.
“I want to hear about your brightest and best ideas, because next month’s Budget will be all about growth,” said Osborne. “In particular, I want to know what businesses, large and small, want from me, because it’s British businesses… that will lead our recovery.”
The move comes after a similar system was set up for the comprehensive spending review last year, with one suggestion resulting in the scrapping of National Insurance cards, saving £1m a year.
The Budget takes place on 23 March.
