ERNST & YOUNG has been named the most gay-friendly accountancy employer for the third year in a row, by the Stonewall Workplace Equity Index.
Ernst & Young came third in the 2011 national benchmark survey by lobbying group and charity Stonewall.
The only other accountancy firm to make the list, Deloitte, placed 90th, a dramatic fall from its ranking of 39th last year.
HM Revenue & Customs broke into the list’s top ten, having clawed its way up the rankings over the last three years. In 2009 it managed to gain a 50th position, in 2010 it rose slightly to 45th, but 2011 sees the taxman climb to the 8th spot.
PwC, who were placed 63rd last year, failed to make the top 100. KPMG also failed to make an appearance for the second year running. PwC and KPMG were ranked 21 and 22 respectively in the 2009 table.
Scott Halliday, E&Y’s UK and Ireland managing partner, said: “To have been benchmarked as one of the UK’s most diverse and inclusive organisations for the third successive year is a huge achievement and recognises the importance of creating a work environment where our people are able to be themselves.
“We want Ernst & Young to be a place where all our people have the potential to thrive and succeed.”
