E&Y's Anglo Irish audit role probed by regulators
Ernst & Young expected to find out in March whether Ireland's accounting regulator will begin disciplinary proceedings against the firm
IRELAND’S ACCOUNTING INSTITUTE is looking into Ernst & Young’s role as auditor of nationalised Anglo Irish Bank.
The Complaints Committee of the Chartered Accountants Regulatory Board (CARB) is not expected to issue a statement on E&Y’s role until March, reported The Times.
Four chartered accountants involved with Anglo Irish Bank might also be disciplined, according to a statement on CARB’s website.
Former Anglo Irish chairman Sean Fitzpatrick; former chief executive David Drumm; and former FD William McAteer were liable for disciplinary action. Peter Fitzpatrick, former FD of Irish Life, is also being investigated in relation to transactions between Anglo Irish and Irish Life.
