Accountancy Age Awards 2010 Young Accountant of the Year Practice - Robert Cant
Robert Cant has come a long way from taking the decision to apply to KPMG from a café in Bali during his post A-Level year out four years ago.
Last year, he managed the audits of three major companies, including Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the client described Cant as having “a very good understanding of the business, structures and processes” compounded with a pragmatic audit plan that “paid dividends”.
“Robert’s maturity, technical ability, relationship management skills, drive and determination go beyond his years and are already outstanding,” said Tony Cottam, South chairman at KPMG.
Besides the strong performance in his role, Cant is seen as someone always trying to stretch himself by his bosses and peers. He has led numerous pieces of work, assisted with the delivery of graduate audit courses and managed colleagues two to three years his senior.
“He has demonstrated great tenacity and determination in his career so far” said one judge.
