Accountancy Age Awards 2010 AAT Accounting Technician of the Year - Emma Young
In a tight category, Emma Young of KPMG this year takes top honours for the Accounting Technician of the Year award.
The judges seized upon her achievement of having completed her AAT qualification within two years of joining the firm at just 18. Already she is a mentor and a coach for other junior members of KPMG staff and is operating at an ‘in charge’ level for clients despite having left school barely three years ago. Her training has given her the confidence to lead and she has volunteered to head projects at short notice in the US.
Audit partner Darren Turner said: “Emma’s enthusiasm to help and willingness to learn are infectious and she is a great addition to any team. The progress Emma has made since joining us is a real testament to the success of the AAT school leavers programme we started many years ago, and which has now produced some of our strongest staff.”
