Senior finance personnel are at the centre of boardroom changes at Virgin
Media and BBC Worldwide-owned
UKTV.
Virgin Media’s CFO Eamonn O’Hare will take on responsibility at its joint
venture UKTV. O’Hare will become chair of UKTV in addition to his finance role,
as part of the agreement between owners
BBC Worldwide and
Virgin Media to
alternate the chair on an annual basis.
UKTV has also named a new chief executive and chief financial officer. Darren
Childs will lead the business and Jan Gooze-Zijl is its new CFO.
Dutch national Gooze-Zijl will join in September from Virgin Media where he
is currently finance director, planning.
He joined Virgin Media in 2008, having served at O2, Accenture, Telewest and
Allied Domecq Spirits & Wine.
O’Hare was appointed Virgin Media’s CFO in November 2009, having served as UK
finance director of Tesco. He also has senior finance experience with Energis
and PepsiCo.
“The way in which we’re entertained at home and on the move is changing. This
evolving digital landscape offers exciting new challenges and opportunities for
channels with powerful identities, such as those run by UKTV,” said O’Hare.
