R3 president reveals manifesto for upcoming year
Steven Law is promoted to president at insolvency trade body, R3, today.
Law has been a member of R3, most recently an elected council member, for 17
years.
He is head of business recovery at Ensors Chartered Accountants in East
Anglia, and starts his one year tenure today.
Law said: “During this recession I have seen businesses helping each other,
and insolvency practitioners (IPs) contribute to that process. In 2009 alone the
UK insolvency industry was responsible for rescuing nearly 6,000 businesses and
helped to save nearly 2 million jobs.”
On R3 he said: “Our members are experienced – the average age of those
passing the entrance exams to become an IP is nearly 33 years old.”
Law added he wanted his manifesto at R3 to focus on; helping struggling
businesses; encouraging more IPs to embrace the rescue culture; upholding IP
standards and integrity; and engaging, in a simple and direct way, with
parliamentarians.
He succeeds Peter Sargent, a partner at Begbies Traynor, who remains on R3’s
council. Frances Coulson, managing partner and head of business recovery at Moon
Beever, is promoted to vice-president taking on the presidency next year.
R3 members make up 97% of IPs in the UK.
