Dragons clash over non-dom status

Duncan Bannatyne has accused Dragons’ Den co-star James Caan of having an
“unfair” advantage over him in business due to his non-dom tax status.

Caan recently launched a health club chain in direct competition to his
friend’s business, and the move has sparked an angry public reaction from
Bannatyne over what he perceives as an unlevel playing field.

Writing in the
Daily
Telegraph
, Bannatyne said: “He is venturing into the health club
industry. As I pay UK tax on all of the earnings that fund my lifestyle, and
corporation tax on all of the profits made by my businesses, I am clearly at an
unfair disadvantage. It’s just as well James and I get on.”
