SAP Carbon Impact unveiled
SAP integrates sustainability software into its portfolio
SAP, the financial technology company, has unveiled its latest offering, SAP
Carbon Impact, following its recent aquisition of Clear Standards, the carbon
management software.
Clear Standards will now be called SAP Carbon Impact with the systems to be
traded under that name by July 2010 although it is currently still being traded
under its original name.
The acquisition of Clear Standards was made “In response to companies asking
for an enhanced solution in regards to sustainability” said Scott Bolick, the
vice president of sustainability at SAP.
He adds that as sustainability becomes increasingly core to larger
businesses, SAP looked at its offerings and “discovered that we need a solution
which helped companies better track their carbon.”
“We now feel comfortable we have a solution that can help our clients today”
he added.
The software will not be embedded into the business ByDesign package – a one
stop shop businesses software package – at this stage. The comapny is currently
looking at whether this could be a possibility in the future.
Because of the changing environment surrounding sustainability, we want
software and packages that have greater agility Bolick explained
The company itself is planning to reduce its carbon levels to 2000 levels by
2020 which equates to a 50% reduction.
