PwC staffer at centre of University Challenge probe
BBC says it will review whether PricewaterhouseCoopers employee should have been in the side crowned as University Challenge champions
The BBC has launched a probe into whether a PricewaterhouseCoopers employee
should have been part of a University Challenge-winning team from Oxford
University.
Sam Kay was part of the Corpus Christi College side crowned champions of the
BBC show, in which student teams answer questions on a variety of subjects.
However, it has emerged that he had actually left the college before the
final against Manchester University was televised, and was already working for
the UK’s largest firm.
The team for Manchester University have said that the Corpus Christi team
were ‘deserving and worthy champions’, but the BBC must decide whether the final
will have to be replayed if it finds that the rules have been breached.
