Brand cool on prospect of ACCA merger
After five months in the role, ACCA CEO Helen Brand has all but ruled out the possibility of a merger with another industry body

Brand said that despite numerous merger attempts among professional
accountancy bodies over the past 20 years, the likelihood of
ACCA merging with a
competing organisation is ‘quite slim’. ‘It’s not on my council’s agenda or on
my agenda as a priority or as a necessity. I do think competition makes you
better.
M & A activity has traditionally been seen to divert organisations from
their strategy and take up lots of resources and time and effort,’ she said.
