IPA to overhaul regulation

The Insolvency Practitioners Association has announced a 'radical' overhaul of the way it regulates its members, promising a 'more efficient' system for its licence holders.

IPA president Richard Long said the regulator was aiming to produce a more efficient, cost-effective and constructive framework for its members. At a conference last Friday, Long also announced the start of a consultation with its members to reform the regulatory process.

He said: ‘The regulatory effort should be focused on quality, value and results, whereas current developments seem to be moving towards pedantic bureaucracy and processes.’

He added the IPA would also look at the disciplinary process to ensure the response was ‘appropriate, timely and effective in protecting the public’.
