French commissioner calls for 'Eurotax'

The European Union's trade commissioner has called for the introduction of a 'Eurotax' on companies after the EU constitution is adopted.

Link: EC to extend dividend tax concessions

French commissioner Pascal Lamy said yesterday that he believed a European tax was needed because the size of the EU’s budget needed increasing to finance major infrastructure projects.

He added that the change should be financed by European companies.
