The BBC has dismissed its director of global marketing and brand development Jeff Taylor for 'breaching the company's employment policy on conflict of interests.'
Taylor is currently aiding investigators of the Independent Commission Against Corruption in Hong Kong in an investigation into an alleged fraud against the BBC by toy sourcing company EMS.
Although Taylor is no longer on bail, he is not free to travel and remains in Hong Kong. No charges have been made in connection with the case.
Forensic accountants from Big Five firm Andersen have been appointed as ‘independent auditors to report on issues surrounding the alleged fraud against BBC Worldwide’. Their investigation is ongoing.
The BBC said on Thursday: ‘Today’s decision, which is subject to appeal, does not reflect or pre-judge any outcome of the investigation in Hong Kong by the Independent Commission Against Corruption into a possible fraud against BBC Worldwide.’
