ACCA history made, but oh so dull
TS was proud to witness an historic moment last week when this very organ attended the first-ever council meeting held by the ACCA in its 99-year history open to the public.
TS was proud to witness an historic moment last week when this very organ attended the first-ever council meeting held by the ACCA in its 99-year history open to the public.
But it was a less obvious historic moment, which caught the attention of TS. That moment came when a member of the esteemed body actually apologised for the subjects discussed being boring. An impressive audience gathered at the ACCA HQ in London’s Lincoln’s Inn Fields and the event seemed to go swimmingly.
Eager members and the public listened intently as senior figures chewed the fat over issues including regulatory and disciplinary arrangements, stakeholder pension scheme regulations and disciplinary committee dealings.
Issues may not have been rivetting, but TS couldn’t feeling the institute demonstrated a hint of self-consciousness when the chairperson apologised towards the end because it had not contained anything user-friendly. She added the next public meeting, at the same place on 19 April, would contain more interesting material.
