Hector was not meant for limelight

Hector was not meant for limelight

More on the sad demise of the Inland Revenue's cheery favourite cartoon mascot - that loveable rogue Hector.

By all accounts the ad agency, who shall remain nameless, never intended for Hector to take the limelight.

After preparing a few options for their pitch the ad boys decided they didn’t have enough for their show-and-tell and decided to quickly whip up Hector as a make weight.

Off they toddled to the Revenue with their other more modern drawings only for the Revenue to say they had fallen in love with Hector.

Visibly shocked the ad chaps could only stand back and let it all happen.

Now, given that Hector has been shown the door for being white, male and middle aged, you have to wonder what the Revenue people who made the decision were thinking of.

NB. Most of the Revenue board now in place were not in post for the birth of Hector and we have to show a little charity.
