    Government pledges to resolve LLP problem

    Public services minister Roger Freeman last week pledged the Government to finding a solution to the liability burden faced by auditors.

    Speaking at the launch of a package of deregulation measures aimed at UK industry, Freeman said: ‘The Government does not want to see a wholesale export of the tax headquarters of partnerships, whether accountancy, legal or actuarial. But the question is how to solve the problem?’

    The Department of Trade and Industry is expected to use the Queen’s speech next month to announce plans to allow firms to set up a Jersey-like version of limited liability partnerships in the UK.
