Handset includes pedometer and heart rate monitor

Written by Guy Dixon

Samsung and Adidas have teamed up to announce the miCoach, an 'exercise' mobile phone that comes with gym-style fitness applications.

The miCoach features a heart rate monitor and pedometer, and offers 'motivational' tips including 'speed up to power zone' if it suspects that the user is slacking.

The phone also sports workout-tailored music supporting a range of formats, including MP3, along with an FM radio, 2-megapixel camera, 1GB of memory, built-in USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 2.0.

Available in a choice of seven colours, including dark grey, 'tech silver' and pink, the phone will launch later this month.

The miCoach will be sold as two separate bundles. The standard pack will include the phone, an armband and a stride sensor, while a more basic bundle comprises just the phone and armband.

A UK price has yet to be announced.
