Microsoft
has partnered with the
Mayo
Clinic to develop tools that allow consumers to manage health information
and their relationships with medical service providers.
Microsoft's Health Solutions Group is aiming to use technology to help bridge
gaps in the health care system,
The partnership is designed to facilitate closer patient-to-physician
connections, and allow patients and consumers to better manage their health and
wellness information.
The two companies were vague on the small print, but intend to announce
further details before the end of the year.
"We are committed to finding new technology solutions that put the patient
and consumer in control," said Brooks Edwards, chief medical officer at Mayo
Clinic Health Solutions.
Peter Neupert, corporate vice president of Microsoft's Health Solutions
Group, added: "Consumers demand and deserve tools that make their lives easier,
facilitate communication and help them take action to manage their health."
