Dell adds to services with Everdream buy

Acquisition beefs up software-as-a-service portfolio

Written by Shaun Nichols in California

Dell is to purchase Everdream, a privately held software-as-a-service vendor.

Everdream specialises in web-based services which allow administrators to manage individual workstations remotely. Services include security, document and data management and general maintenance.

Dell plans to integrate Everdream's offerings into its services business alongside those of SilverBack Technologies which it acquired in July.

Like Everdream, Silverback runs services that allow customers to remotely manage networks.

Dell hopes that the new service bundle will allow the company to offer enterprise customers the ability to run entire IT operations from a remote office.

On-demand services have been a major part of Dell revamped enterprise strategy. Remote management was listed by the company as one of the key selling points of its Vostro SME campaign.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, and Dell did not give an estimate on when the acquisition would be completed.
