Card industry deals out security standards

PCI SSC begins discussions

Written by Clement James

The Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC), an industry body providing management of the PCI Data Security Standard (PDF), is preparing to develop and ratify security standards.

The PCI SSC was founded by major payment card companies American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa International.

A three-day meeting in Toronto in September will give participating organisations and PCI SSC-approved security assessors and scanning vendors the chance to meet committee members.

The PCI SSC has now started the feedback gathering process for the PCI Data Security Standard.

This week, participating organisations will be given the chance to give feedback on the underlying requirements of the current standard, due in late June.
