Guy Berruyer takes CEO role at Sage

Financial software business Sage has promoted Guy Berruyer to chief executive succeeding, outgoing Paul Walker.

Berruyer is promoted from CEO of Sage's mainland Europe & Asia operations. He joined Sage in 1997 to run the French operations at the FTSE 100 company and was later promoted to the board of directors in 2000.

Berruyer previously worked at financial software suppliers Intuit as European director.

Anthony Hobson, chairman of Sage, said: "During his [Berruyer] 13 year career with Sage, Guy has lead the successful growth of our business in Europe and, more recently, in Asia. He has a strong track record of profit growth, both organically and through the successful acquisition and integration of companies.

Berruyer takes up the position in 1 October and succeeds Paul Walker who will remain at Sage until 1 December.

Walker has spent 26 years at the company, 16 of which as CEO.
