The PwC audit partner that signed off the last set of accounts for in-administration social housing group Connaught left the firm over the summer, it has emerged.

Stephen Harrison departed from PwC, where he had worked in the Bristol office, on 30 June as part of “normal planned retirement” aged 57.

Administrators from KPMG were appointed to Connaught on 8 September after a review found that the business had serious cash problems, but the Times reports that the accounts of the company had been the subject of debate in the City for some time.

The first batch of redundancies from Connaught are expected to be announced today.
