Kerry Katona made bankrupt

Kerry Katona, the ex-atomic kitten, has been declared bankrupt for failing to pay the final £82,000 of a £417,000 tax bill.

Luke Harris, a member of the legal team for the I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here star, had requested for the matter to be pushed back, however Registrar Nicholls had only granted them a further hour, the BBC reports.

Harris had said that the funds were available but that cheques would not be cleared in time to meet the deadline of payment today.

Nicholls called Harris this afternoon for an update but Harris said: 'he was not in a position to assist further'.

The high court has now declared Katona bankrupt following a petition issued by the HMRC earlier this year.

This is the fourth time the case has appeared in court.
