Despite a drive to increase the proportion of taxpayers filing self-assessment returns online, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has reported a marked decrease in electronic submissions.
The IRS has recorded a 10% drop in online filing during the current reporting period, according to webcpa.com
The IRS will be introducing a Free Fillable Tax Forms service allowing more people to submit their SA returns free of charge over the internet.
Figures released by the IRS reveal tax advisors are submitting 9.64% less electronic filing compared to last season.
